Black Vultures, Black Cows

Over at the Chinqua Penn walking trail, massive numbers of vultures are milling around with the black heifers and their calves. Typically I see maybe one black vulture for every 10 or so turkey vultures, but lately it’s more of a 50/50 split. These are black vultures in this photo.

Lake Brandt Greenway report

Josh, Happy, and I walked part of the Lake Brandt Greenway before Sunday’s Bristol race. It runs 2.6 miles from the parking area of Guilford Courthouse NMP along the old Atlantic-Yadkin rail corridor. You can reach Bur-Mil Park and other trails from the greenway, which winds through rolling woodlands.
