File under: Weird Coincidences.
Before Josh and I (and Lucy the cat) moved to North Carolina, we lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, on a block of historic brownstones. Between the buildings were these little yards that the owners of said brownstones had access to; lowly tenants were allowed to look but not touch these rare green spaces. [...]

Dawdling With Wren and Squirrel
January 4th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Not much happening today. It’s cold as heck, I’m waiting on some text, and I don’t feel like tackling such mundane things as laundry. Which means it’s time for random shots from the feeder! I replaced the hanging suet log after the last one was finally knocked to the ground and dragged off by a [...]

What happens when you get a bigger lens?

I’ve been extolling the virtues of the Canon S2 IS camera, with its awesome powers of 12x optical/4x digital zoom. Well, birders can’t get enough zoom, so yesterday I received the Raynox DCR-2020Pro 2.2x telephoto lens, giving me an awesome amount of reach. Here are a few practice shots, taken at distances I wouldn’t have [...]
