Named for and debuted with the big American car of the same name, the Chrysler Imperial rose turns out to be an amazingly rich, dark red with an even more amazing scent (rosy with a little spicy). I never thought I’d grow roses, considering them too futzy and needing sprays and stuff, but I’m taking my usual Darwinian approach to roses: Adapt or die. Chrysler Imperial is doing well in two spots in our garden. One in front of Josh’s studio has about half a dozen buds today, and one by the driveway is about to burst open another delicious bloom. This one in the photo lasted for several days in a Coke-bottle vase, giving the house a fantastic scent. Highly recommended!
