Winter Birds Arrive En Masse
October 16th, 2009 · No Comments
This morning heralded my old buddy Sam Peabody (aka white-throated sparrow). He scratched around below the feeder while I fed the chickens at sunup. Just now, the brushy area at the edge of the yard yielded—get this:
A golden-crowned kinglet,
Yellow-rumped warblers,

My middling scanner didn’t pick up the eponymous yellow bellow as clearly as it shows in the original photo, but no matter—we [...]

Back for fall: Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers (and warblers!)

Please forgive my craptacularly erratic site loading. That loud sucking sound you hear is Dreamhost’s servers crashing. Sucking being the operative term.
This morning’s coffee heralded the return of the Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, as well as a fantastic visitation by a Black-throated Blue Warbler, and Josh attempting to get those ballsy Red-breasted Nuthatches to eat out of [...]
