Junco as Kim Jung-il’s Hair Double

I see this dark-eyed junco every day. Something’s going on with its hairdo. It just hit me that the bird looks a lot like bepouffed North Korean leader Kim Jung-il.
Glad I got that out of my system. I’m now imposing an indefinite moratorium on junco posts.

UPDATE 2/26: Just got an email from David Bonter at Cornell, who confirms that this is indeed an Oregon race dark-eyed junco! Junco Pic Makes the GBBC Gallery!

I like when birds are all slouchy like this dark-eyed junco. It’s good to know they have the occasional moment to relax and not worry about hawks and cats and stuff eating them.
