Many times in birdwatching you’ll “see” birds without actually seeing them. Most people know the “caw! caw!” of a crow, right? So when you hear that “caw,” you can pretty much imagine what the crow looks like. I’ve been watching birds all my life, so I can identify a fair number of them by sight.
