Check out today’s Shirt.Woot: “Larkitecture.” Get it? It’s a bird, building a nest, using blueprints. Try not to get bogged down in the fact that the bird isn’t super larky. Just enjoy how cute and clever it is. If you’re a lady, I highly recommend either ording a size up or even going for a man’s size. They run small. Like larks.

Why are comments off for “GSO Parents: Josh Teaching Kids’ Art at Art Alliance”? I loved it. And I can tell you really love him. That was a fantastic post!

Hope you and Josh are enjoying your home, chickens and life in general!

Looks like the last Wordpress update changed my default settings. All fixed now. Glad you mentioned it!

All’s well here, but I really need to pay more attention to this blog, don’t I?

    Hey Iris,

Just wondered if you’ve seen any Pine Siskins yet. My mom in Raleigh saw one–I was skeptical, but figured maybe an injured one who didn’t migrate in Spring…until I most definitely saw one at my feeder. Another died when it crashed into the window of a friend (who happens to be an expert birder). So apparently they’re here…but in August??? Have you ever heard of such??? –PS–check my blog for some big news!

Siskins already? Heck no! But weirder things have happened. Ebird shows an 8/3/09 sighting at Mount Mitchell, but that’s at elevation. I have seen cedar waxwings all summer up here in Farris Park, so you never know. Warblers are coming through now, and I had a nice female scarlet tanager pass through this morning (I only see them near the feeder during migration—go figure). LOADS of fat hummingbirds, too. But siskins? Not yet!

    And congratulations on the gardener-on-the-way!

And when I say, “Heck no!” I mean I’m completely jealous that you have siskins before me!

Also, you should report your sighting on Ebird, because it’s later than the latest sighting and earlier than that earliest sighting. So jealous…
