There’s nothing like North Carolina in the fall. Fellow NC bird blogger Dave sent over his shot of this gorgeous Eastern bluebird posing against the peaking crimson foliage in his neighborhood. I hadn’t seen any bluebirds for a few weeks—pretty much all through October—but suddenly they’re out there again, singing and splashing in my birdbath, and hawking for niblets in yards all over town. Just on our end of the street, I typically see a few dozen on the power wires and in the suddenly bare trees. Fall colors are nearly past their peak here, but the bluebirds will keep us in color all winter. Thanks, Dave!
