How to Survive Winter and Look Good Doing It

Back to the birds at hand. Still waiting for the juncos to arrive, but we’ve got white-throated sparrows to spare. In fact, the underbrush was swarming with white-throats during this evening’s dog promenade. Here’s the little Sam Peabody that inspired Josh’s latest bird illo. We’ve had three frosty mornings, so apparently summer is not coming back for a while. I’ve already broken out my favorite fingerless cashmere gloves, which are the BEST way to keep your hands from going numb at the keyboard during winter (and in frigid air-conditioned offices in summer). Highly recommended—I get mine at this eBay store. These are supersoft, too, not scratchy cheapy cashmere. You’ll be toasty in the office, but you’ll look chic and cool, not like you’re about to roll up a snowman in your cubicle. Of course, I work at home, where the dogs and chickens have learned to appreciate the chic yet practical features of cashmere. And they’re better for it, I think.

You really should post that picture of Lunch in her cashmere sweater. Precious!
