Spotted today on Shanghaiist: Toads escaping a river onto the streets of Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, apparently because of lack of oxygen in the river waters. Have you read about today’s 7.8 earthquake in China? I’m a Northridge quake alumna, and I shudder every time I hear about a megaquake like this latest one. (As a gentle balm, there’s more toad action after the jump.)

This toad, on the other hand, made its way into our creek right after yesterday’s round of storms. It’s the first toad spotted in our yard. Gotta make a little toad house one of these days.

And right after the toad—a rainbow! Does this herald the end of our crazy tornadoes, golf ball-size hail, and 50 mph winds? Let’s hope so. Nuff’s enough!

What a satisfying squishing sound they must make.
I’m keeping the name, PS.
