Honey Bee in Yoshino Blossom

April 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Our Yoshino cherry tree is in bloom, and the honey bees are making the most of it. Since moving into this house last fall, we’ve planted four trees in front and seven in back—and inherited another mess of ‘em in the adjacent wooded section. Everything is in bloom rotation, with the red maples and pears long since finished and now leafing out and the dogwoods on the verge of exploding into bloom. This bee is possibly part of the large wild hive that lives in a nearby tree. I don’t get too near that tree because, well, it’s full of bees.

great photo! Wish we were blooming in New York but it’s pretty much brown and gray here still.
