
Here’s a new nest in a pine branch hanging over the yard. The builder is apparently a fan of plastic bags and mud. Can you guess who made it? See the answer after the jump…

Of course, it’s a robin’s nest! Those stout mud walls would be a dead giveaway even if I hadn’t seen the bird itself putting the thing together. Spring starts early here in the South, doesn’t it?

You just never know what is going to end up being used during nest construction. Maybe the plastic was an attempt at waterproofing.

Vern, you might be on to something, especially since the plastic is the bottom layer. I’m just glad to see a little more clay leaving my garden. Makes a great nest, but it’s tough to dig in.
