This weekend, February 16-19, is the Great Backyard Bird Count, sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Audobon Society. For Project FeederWatch members, it’s a great opportunity to count the birds that refuse to visit our feeders. You can count at as many locations and for as long as you like (well, at least for 15 minutes anyway). Tally sheets listing your local species and data forms are available at the GBBC site, and you can enter your info there as well.
Today marks the first day the submit bird photos to the GBBC photo gallery. Photos must be taken from today through February 21. Submit them (2MB max per photo) online here. You could win a cool prize, too. I’ve already submitted a couple Barred Owl shots, an Eastern Phoebe, and few others that I shot this morning. I have no chance of winning, but it’s fun to take pictures with a purpose. Get crackin’!

I think you have a great chance of winning a prize. Your pictures are excellent. Good luck!!!!
Hmm, I dunno, there are some real pros in that game, but I enjoy playing along. You’ve got some great shots yourself–I expect you to be on the board soon!
